We're always on the lookout for ways to reduce our environmental impact and embrace sustainable practices. All our company cars and vans are fully electric, and we’re now extending this to the products we install, including sustainable solar mounting systems and PV panels.
That's why we're thrilled to share some exciting news from one of our trusted suppliers, Van Der Valk, who provide us with solar mounting systems.
They've recently made the switch to using more sustainable steel in their products. Every batch of steel they incorporate into their mounting systems now comes with official certificates, showcasing a notable reduction in CO2 emissions during the manufacturing process.
What about the PV panels we use?
JA Solar has embraced the ethos of sustainable development by integrating green practices into every aspect of its operations. This commitment is evident in their approach to building eco-friendly factories, producing environmentally conscious products, and fostering the generation of renewable energy, all with the collective goal of nurturing a greener planet.
Moreover, they actively promote resource recycling across all stages of production.
Meyer Burger’s commitment to ethical practices extends throughout their supply chain. They source as many of their raw materials as possible from the European market with manufacturing taking place in Germany using 100% renewable energy. They ensure maximum recyclability of their panels. And additionally, the short supply chain to the UK means lower supply chain carbon emissions.
Viridian Solar’s Fusion integrated panels are not only a great in-roof option, but they are also designed with sustainability in mind. The company has released the world’s first Environmental Product Declarations (EPD’s) for their solar and mounting kits, providing detailed information about the environmental performance of their products from a lifecycle perspective. This level of transparency helps installers and builders better understand the sustainability impact of their choices.
In a move to further their environmental commitment, Viridian Solar has eliminated plastic packaging from their roofing kit boxes, opting for paper-based alternatives. This change ensures all packaging can be recycled in a single waste stream, simplifying waste management.
Viridian Solar has also taken steps to reduce electricity consumption at their own facility by installing motion sensor lights and solar panels on their building’s roof. Additionally, they have achieved ISO 45001 certification, highlighting their commitment to occupational health and safety.
Through their Fusion Forest Programme, Viridian Solar pledges to plant a tree for every solar panel purchased. To date, they have planted an impressive 400,000 trees, contributing significantly to reforestation efforts.
What does this mean for you and us?
It means the same outstanding product quality we've come to expect, produced with an environmentally conscious approach. Plus, it translates to a significant decrease in our CO2 emissions, contributing to a greener future for us all.
Thanks to partners like Van Der Valk, JA Solar, Meyer Burger and Viridian we're making strides towards a more sustainable tomorrow.
