As the winter chill sets in, there’s nothing worse than discovering your heat pump has stopped working right when you need warmth most. That’s why regular heat pump servicing isn’t just helpful - it’s essential for keeping your home running efficiently and comfortably.
Why Annual Heat Pump Servicing Matters
Even the best-installed heat pump isn’t immune to wear and tear. Booking an annual service helps to:
Maintain peak efficiency and keep energy bills lower
Can be a condition of your heat pump warranty
Extend your heat pump’s lifespan by catching issues early
Prevent unexpected breakdowns during cold weather
Provide reassurance that everything is operating safely
At Your Energy Your Way, we recommend servicing every 12 months to keep your system in top condition.

What Happens During a Heat Pump Service
When our qualified technicians visit, they carry out a thorough system check, including:
Cleaning essential components such as coils, filters, fins, and drains
Checking for leaks, refrigerant issues, or unusual noises
Verifying correct system pressures and water flow
Confirming electrical components and controls are functioning properly
Ensuring heating and hot water performance meets the expected output
Heat pumps are lower-maintenance than traditional boilers, but not “set and forget.” A little care goes a long way.
Common Samsung Heat Pump Issues (and How to Fix Them)
Heat pumps are reliable systems, but like all technology, they can occasionally display error messages. The good news? Since our most common heat pump installation is of a Samsung heat pump — we’ve created helpful YouTube videos to walk you through the steps.
Below are some of the most common Samsung heat pump errors we see:
E101 – Communication Error Between Indoor & Outdoor Units
This often appears after a power cut or temporary loss of communication between the units.
Turn off the indoor unit at the wall switch
Turn off the outdoor unit at the rotary isolator
Wait 30 seconds
Turn everything back on - starting with the outdoor unit
This restart sequence restores communication in most cases.
If you have a Samsung Gen 6 or 7 heat pump, please see our YouTube video below.
E911 – Low Flow Error
E911 indicates a problem with water circulation in the system. Start by checking the system pressure - it should typically sit between 1.5 and 2 bar.
If the pressure is low and you know how to top it up, you can do so
We also have a YouTube video that demonstrates what to look for and how to fix it safely.
Legionella Cycle Temperature Error
Your heat pump periodically heats water to higher temperatures during its Legionella protection cycle. If it fails to reach the required temperature, you may see a related error.
You can clear the error, and your system will continue to operate, but please let your installer know - repeated failures may indicate a settings or flow issue that needs attention.
YEYW installations are built to last, and our support doesn’t stop once your heat pump is in. Annual servicing ensures you always get the very best from your system.
